SIGMA ALPHA EPSILON OUR MISSION The mission of Sigma Alpha Epsilon is to promote the highest standards of friendship, scholarship, and service for our members based upon the ideals set forth by our Founders and as specifically enunciated in our creed: TRUE GENTLEMAN "The True Gentleman is the man whose conduct proceeds from good will and an acute sense of propriety, and whose self-control is equal to all emergencies; who does not make the poor man conscious of his poverty, the obscure man of his obscurity, or any man of his inferiority or deformity; who is himself humbled if necessity compels him to humble another; who does not flatter wealth, cringe before power, or boast of his own possessions or achievements; who speaks with frankness but always with sincerity and sympathy; whose deed follows his word; who thinks of the rights and feelings of others, rather than his own; and who appears well in any company, a man with whom honor is sacred and virtue safe." - John Walter Wayland  California Upsilon OUR HISTORY The California Upsilon Chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon is a well-rounded and respected fraternity at the University of La Verne. Founded on campus in 1985, SAE has since well-established itself on campus -- excelling in academic studies, sports leagues, social relations and leadership positions in all parts of the University. Brothers of the fraternity are widely involved in various organizations, holding prominent positions (which include but are not limited to: Associated Student of the University of La Verne (ASULV), Orientation Week Leaders (OWLS), Order of Omega Honor Society, Society of Physical Life Science Scholars (SPLSS), Mu Phi Epsilon International Music Fraternity (ΜΦΕ), Campus Activities Board (CAB), Residence Hall Association (RHA), and the Interfraternity Council (IFC). Sigma Alpha Epsilon stays intimate with the University, maintaining one of the highest GPAs of Greek organization on campus. SAE continues to stand proudly as being the most selective fraternity at the University of La Verne, excepting only the highest caliber of character from our brothers. Apart from our chapter at the University of La Verne, Sigma Alpha Epsilon remains to be the largest and strongest national fraternity in the nation, with over 300,000 initiates. With an enormous listing of famous alumni and presence at some of the most elite universities of the nation has to offer, our strong national ties allow for a truly nationwide recognized brotherhood. The California Upsilon Chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon continues to flourish, rooting lifetime fraternal resources and brotherhood which will last far beyond any brother’s college career.
